HAIR BIZZ

Sooooo I recently had a hairdo meltdown! lol

I came to the realization that I've had my hair chopped forthe past 3 years!

I still can't believe it's really been that long.

Lately, I've become extremely annoyed with the shortness of my hair,

because I feel like my styling possibilities are limited.

And the more I have to add heat to my hair when I want to do it it up,

the more I'm considering just throwing in the towel and letting it all grow out because

I don't want to continue to damage the little bit of hair that I do have!

Funny thing is, whenever I'm feeling soooo over my doo, I get the most compliments EVER! lol

I'm so confused! hahaha

I love my hair the way it is now because it sets me apart from the slew of chicks

with long, bodacious {boring} locks lol

Yet at the same time, I want some length so I can have more versatility in my

everyday hair wear.

Last weekend, I was fooling around at my grandma's house and decided to test out

some locks of love, just to see if I'm really feeling it or not.

I was inspired to rock this look out after reminiscing about

Mary-Kate Olsen's incredibly edgy fashion sense.

I love the 90s and the tomboy chicness that's coming back into play

RADICAL REBELLION

When I peeped Nylon Magazine's behind-the-scenes footage

of M.I.A's June 2010 cover shoot,

my anticipation for the music issue to hit the stands hit an all-time high,

especially when I spotted her rockin' some pieces from one of my favorite designers

Henry Holland of the infamous funktified brand, House of Holland.

Not only do I love the Sri Lankan rapper for her insanely obscure sense of fashion,

but her passion and fearlessness regarding social change

is what differentiates her from the mold, putting me in pure awe.

With my own personal experiences this past quarter

in learning the depth of the systematic forms of oppression that exist in America,

it's a true breath of fresh air to know that someone of great influence like M.I.A

is using her music to reach people by the masses,

making them aware of the corruption that exists globally

as well as right here in the "land of the free."

{Those words I use very loosely lol}

If you haven't caught wind of the recent controversy she's stirred up,

I suggest you take a look at her newest music video for her single,

"Born Free."

It's a definite eye opener and is a perfect example of the ways that the state

perpetuates violence against whomever they want, whenever they want.

After embarking on a difficult journey to find an internship for this summer,I recently had an interview with David Melgar of L.A.'s infamous brand,Joyrich!After chit-chatting about his background working for Jeremy Scott {one of THE most innovative designers around},sharing my past fashion experiences, and getting the deets on the expansion of the Joyrich brand,I hope my resume & painfully obvious passion for learning lands me the position!{Fingers crossed!}Now, it's just a matter of waiting for the yay or the nay,which is the most agonizing time period after an interview lolSo say a little prayer that this summer, I'll be hitting the fashion scene in the City of Angels with the ones who are calling the shots!!:)

BORDERLINE INSANITY

And more than willing to punch you in the face... just because.

Not that I'm usually in a bitchy mood,

but this last week has been BANANAS!!!,

which was my reason for my lack of posting.

{SORRY!}

With these next few weeks being the bitter end of the school year,

things have been all over the place for me!

I have tons of homework to do amongst 3 final projects

that are sitting on my desk collecting dust....

exams to prepare for.....

not to mention, the lease on my apartment is up at the end of next month!

Yesterday I went house hunting with a few friends of mine/future roommates

and after searching high and low throughout Riverside,

we came across 2 lovely abodes :)

I just came back from getting a tour of the inside and

I'm already coming up with color stories & ideas for my room!

I really have my heart set on one of the homes so I'm hoping that

I have somewhere to live! lol

Otherwise, it's back to my mom's house I go :/

My "to do" list gets even lengthier by the day,

but I know that the Superwoman in me is going to have to pull through.

If there's a will, there's definitely a way!!

RETRO REVOLUTION

Thank God for vintage vendors!!! lol

I scored this awesome abstract-printed skirt last week from

the amazing Moya, who is a traveling vintage seller by way of San Diego.

Apparently my school has a fair at the midpoint of every quarter for folks to set up shop

and sell their goods to shopping fiends alike myself.

Although there was another small booth where a pair of OC girls were selling

their vintage finds,

I had to check out what Moya had to offer.

I guess you can call me a loyal customer ;)

Lace nighties, acid wash denim, funky hats, and boots galore!

After digging through trunks and rummaging through racks,

I grabbed the skirt, a holey green marina, a bright pink dress with structured shoulders,

and a dope cheetah print leotard.

I know it sounds like A LOT going on,

but these fab finds will definitely be part of my summer attire.
